Prof Stanford is the Chair of Microscopy Australia’s Education committee. This committee oversees the development of MyScope, the worlds most accessed online training tool in microscopy, receiving more than 100,000 visits per year from all over the world. Her research interests include a range of microscopy techniques such as scanning and transmission microscopy, atom probe tomography, optical microscopy and surface science techniques such as time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry. These techniques are used in tandem with other diffraction and scattering techniques to answer research questions in the field of materials science and metallurgy. Specific topic of interest include fatigue, additive manufacturing, strip casting and magnesium alloy design.
